CHAPTER 3: Our Blessing

The Caelmont kingdom was restless. Heavy rain poured from the sky.

Beyond the loud scream of storm, a faint and painful groan echoed through the chamber. The women present hurried around in panic, each doing her best to help.

On the bed, a lady was drenched in sweat and tears. Her face was twisted with pain as she struggled to breathe. With all her strength, she pushed, trying her hardest to bring her baby into the world.

Outside the chamber stood her husband, the strongest and most loyal Commander of King Riaum, Lucien. Yet now, the strength meant nothing. His face was pale and his hands and legs trembled as he knelt in prayer.

In a broken whisper, he pleaded with the gods, “Dear lords …. please bless us. Please protect my wife…. and our child.”

After losing their first child, the baby was their only hope.

The sky poured rain without mercy, as if it were crying for the child yet to be born-as if the heavens themselves were screaming for the cruel destiny that awaited the poor soul.

Suddenly, through the rush, the cries, the groans and the whimpers, a soft angelic cry was heard. The baby had been born.

Joy filled the room as the women gathered around the mother, congratulating her with relieved smiles. Tears of happiness flowed as a lady stepped out of the chamber. The maid was crying openly as she ran to him and said with a trembling voice.

My lord …. It is a boy.”

He ran inside at once. The first thing he did was walk straight to his dear loving wife … He knelt beside her bed, his eyes filling with tears as he gently kissed her knuckles.

“My dear wife Amara”, he whispered softly. “Today I kneel before you once again. My warrior …you have just blessed us with a little prince. Our prince.”

His voice broke as he added, “you carried pain so our future could live. I will spend the rest of my life honoring that strength.” “Thankyou…. Thankyou so much my little angel.”

With those words, he kissed her forehead. She was unconscious, yet she heard every word. A small tear slipped from the corner of her eyes as she nodded faintly, her strength finally fading.

Slowly, he walked toward his Son, who was wrapped snugly in soft cloth. He bent down and kissed the baby’s tiny forehead.

“you little Brat,he murmured with a shaky laugh, “you have teased my wife enough already”.

He smiled warmly.

“Well, ‘little Brat’ suits you - but my wife would surely scold me for it . So welcome, my child…my love… Welcome to this world, my baby Matthias.”

At last, the sun peeked through the sky, the rain retreating quietly- marking a new beginning.
